“Are you with me now” A J Ryder
As I’m getting ready for Leadership Summit and Thanksgiving, they kind of rolled into one when I read for the third or fourth time the Thanksgiving Address in Braiding with Sweetgrass. The Haudenosaunee have published the Thanksgiving Address in over 40 languages. As Onondaga Faithkeeper Oren Lyons said, “It’s supposed to be shared., otherwise how can it work?” You can read it here. It is a great read around a dinner table or anytime. For Leadership it expresses that leadership is not vested in power and authority but in service and wisdom and promotes a Culture of Gratitude where we are in a reciprocal relationship with ALL things.
“If we want to grow good citizens, then let us teach reciprocity. If what we aspire to is justice for all, then let it be justice for all of Creation.” Robin Wall Kimmerer
Here's the ending:
“We have now arrived at the places where we end our words. Of all the things we have named, it is not our intention to leave anything out. If something was forgotten, we leave it to each individual to send such greetings and thanks in their own way. And now our minds are one.”
Hope to see anyone coming to the Leadership Summit at Shameka and El After Dark – This one starts off with What keeps you up at night?
It begins to tell 'round midnight'
Round midnight
I do pretty well 'til after sundown
Suppertime I'm feeling sad
But it really gets bad 'round midnight –
Round Midnight
-Music by Thelonius Monk Lyrics by Bernie Hanighen
And of course, we’ll get to those good dreams that keep us all up as well.
I’ll See You in My Dreams – Music by Gus Kahn sung by Ella Fitzgerald
Have a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving!
Be well!
